Gizmo Moonwhistle is a small, fluffy ball of curiosity with a heart considerably bigger than himself. Sweet-natured, affectionate, and endlessly inquisitive, he has a habit of finding wonder in the most ordinary things. Whether it's a floating candle, a talking portrait, or a particularly interesting-looking sweet, Gizmo wants to know everything about it.
He's friendly and gentle, although he can be shy when meeting new people. Once he feels comfortable, his playful side emerges, and he becomes an enthusiastic companion who loves making others smile. He has a particular fondness for music, warm cocoa topped with marshmallows, and curling up somewhere cosy with a good book.
Gizmo's biggest strength is his kindness. History:
Gizmo Moonwhistle was born on 14 February 1910 in Bramblewick Hollow, a secluded wizarding village hidden among the misty Scottish Highlands. His family lived in a crooked cottage at the edge of the village, where the garden grew peculiar plants, the furniture occasionally moved by itself, and strange noises from the attic were considered perfectly ordinary.
The Moonwhistles were an eccentric family with a long-standing fascination with magical creatures and enchanted objects. Gizmo grew up surrounded by peculiar books, dusty curiosities, and family stories about witches and wizards who had encountered extraordinary things. While other children might have been frightened by a cupboard that rattled or a teapot that sang, Gizmo was usually the first to investigate.
One of his earliest mishaps involved an enchanted music box that he discovered tucked away in the attic. Curious about the strange symbols engraved on its lid, he wound it up without asking permission. Within minutes, every clock in the cottage began chiming a different tune, the kitchen utensils started dancing, and the family cat refused to come downstairs for the rest of the day. Gizmo found the whole affair rather wonderful. His parents were considerably less impressed.
As he grew older, his fascination with magical creatures became one of his defining interests. He was particularly drawn to creatures that others considered frightening or troublesome, believing that many simply needed patience and understanding. He dreamed of learning about them properly and perhaps one day helping care for creatures that had nowhere else to go.
When his Hogwarts acceptance letter arrived, Gizmo could hardly contain his excitement. He imagined wandering through the castle, discovering hidden passages, learning spells, and making friends from all sorts of magical backgrounds. His parents reminded him to listen to his teachers, respect the rules, and avoid experimenting with anything labelled dangerous.
Gizmo promised he would do his best.
Whether his curiosity would cooperate remained another matter entirely.
Now, as he prepares to begin his first year at Hogwarts, Gizmo hopes to discover where he belongs. He doesn't dream of becoming the most powerful wizard in the world or earning fame and recognition. He simply wants to learn, make a few lifelong friends, and prove that even the smallest person can make a difference.
House Preference:
Hufflepuff. Gizmo values loyalty, kindness, fairness, and friendship above almost everything else. Ravenclaw would also suit his curiosity and love of learning, but he feels most at home among people who look after one another.

The Great Hall was even more magnificent than Gizmo had imagined.
He stood among the other first-years, his oversized ears twitching as he took in the floating candles, the enchanted ceiling, and the hundreds of students chatting beneath the golden light. His little paws clutched the front of his robes while his enormous brown eyes wandered from one fascinating sight to another.
He was supposed to be listening to the professor explaining the Sorting Ceremony.
He really was.
Unfortunately, a tiny silver moth had just landed on the edge of his sleeve.
Gizmo watched it unfold its shimmering wings.
"Oh," he whispered, leaning closer. "You're pretty."
The moth fluttered onto his shoulder, and Gizmo smiled so broadly that his cheeks puffed up around his nose. For a moment, he completely forgot where he was.
Then someone nearby cleared their throat.
Gizmo looked up.
The other first-years were moving forward, and the professor was looking directly at him.
His ears lowered slightly.
"Sorry," he squeaked, hurrying to catch up.
When his name was finally called, Gizmo stepped onto the stool and looked out at the enormous hall. Hundreds of unfamiliar faces stared back at him. His stomach fluttered with nervous excitement.
What if he didn't fit in? What if he accidentally set something on fire during his first week? What if the castle had rules about talking to moths?
He swallowed and sat still as the Sorting Hat was lowered onto his head.
Whatever happened next, he decided, he would try his best.
After all, there were friends to make, secrets to discover, and an entire castle waiting to be explored.
And Gizmo Moonwhistle had never been particularly good at resisting an adventure.
