The Office of Charms Professor Roufas Bourne
#1

Professor Roufas Bourne's office was not the most glamorous or largest in the entirety of the castle, but it was comfortable and suited him just fine. Since accepting his position, Roufas had furnished the space to his tastes, though he had not brought many personal items from his family home in Wyoming. The office was well lit, with a purely functional but comfortable desk and a chair for anyone visiting sitting along side it. The chair for company was set in this manner quite deliberately. His years as an Auror had instilled Roufas with a mild paranoia, and so his back was never to the entrance of a room if he could help it, and his line of sight to the nearest door was always unobstructed.

Roufas' own chair was a large and well worn leather office chair whose casters squeaked when he rolled them across the wooden floor. It was a comfortable place to sit, grading papers or having a discussion with students or colleagues.

The shelves lining the walls near Roufas' desk were not as densely packed as some professors were. His shelves held a small selection of Charms texts, as well as various case studies regarding the pursuit of various dark witches and wizards, but also a few fictional texts. Muggle literature, stories of the frontier in America and cowboys having adventures. There were also a fair amount of classics to be found, with a noticeable bent towards Jules Verne and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The other immediately noticeable features of Roufas' office was the lack of couches or love seats of any kind. There were no easy chairs to be found. There was mostly open space, and across the shelves could be seen various decanters of whiskey displayed. This was not a space one entertained many guests. It was a professional space where things were done quickly and to the point, and where Roufas could be alone with his thoughts and reflect on the day's events.

A small door to the right of Roufas' desk led into his personal quarters. A large four poster bed in dark oak dominated the majority of the room, while in this area there WERE two large leather easy chairs, a table between them. A fine china tea set serving two sat on the table as did more decanters of whiskey. A large full length mirror was on one wall, with a sensible oak wardrobe beside it. In his quarters, one of the few possessions Roufas had brought with him from America hung on the wall. His rifle, a Henry repeating rifle, brightly polished brass and dark wood sat on the wall. It was strange amongst wizarding folk to have such a thing, but Roufas had believed since childhood that it was always valuable to have tools other than a wand at the ready.
